A career criminal has appeared in court charged with the brutal beating and attempted robbery of the owner of the iconic Ray’s Candy Store in the East Village, Your Content has learned.

Luis Peroza, 39, was arrested on Friday after attacking Ray Alvares on January 31.

He appeared in Manhattan Criminal Court on Friday surrounded by officers.

Gerald Barth, 55, has also been charged in connection with the brutal assault,‘according to Daily Mail.
