Gunman Wearing Ballistic Vest Shoots 8 People in Philadelphia, At Least 4 Dead

Police responded to reports of a shooting in Philadelphia earlier tonight that left at-least four people dead and four more injured, Your Content has learned.

Your Content was first to report the tragic shooting that resulted in the loss of four lives and leaving four others wounded after a gunman wearing a ballistic vest opened fire, as reported by local authorities.

The deadly shooting occurred in the Kingsessing neighborhood of the city around 8:30 p.m.

Swift police response followed the incident where at-least one suspect was taken into custody, as Your Content previously reported.

“Horrified by the reports of a shooting in Southwest Philadelphia.” Mayor Jim Kenney tweeted. “My heart is with the loved ones and families of everyone involved, and I send my prayers to the victims.”

Among the victims four who succumbed from their injuries were two children—ages 2 and 13.

Following the shooting, four of the injured individuals were urgently transported to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, while the remaining four victims reached the same hospital by private vehicle, according to information provided by the newspaper.

Approximately ten minutes after the tragic events began to unfold, law enforcement announced the arrest of a man found wearing a ballistic vest.

Reports also indicate that a rifle and a handgun were recovered by authorities in a nearby alleyway, highlighting the severity and potential magnitude of the incident.

Police did not discharged their weapons in the process leading up to the suspect’s apprehension.
