The deadly coronavirus has infected a 2-year-old girl from Montgomery County, Pa., officials said Monday evening.

“I’m sorry to have to share with you that our first presumptive positive pediatric case arrived today. This is a 2-year-old female who resides in New Hanover. This child resides with an individual who had direct contact with a previously identified presumptive positive individual in Montgomery County and contact tracing is complete,” county Commissioners Chairwoman Valerie Arkoosh said during a news briefing on Monday.

“COVID-19 remains a rapidly evolving situation here in Montgomery County,” Arkoosh said.

The young girl is being monitored at home, officials said, and is not hospitalized. The Mercury was first to report the toddler diagnosis.
