Bam Margera, the erstwhile MTV celebrity, has been reportedly focusing on his health and sobriety following a prolonged period of personal challenges, ranging from substance abuse to psychiatric holds, Your Content has learned.

His life seems to be taking a turn for the better as he has been dedicating time and effort towards recovery, this time at one of Lamar Odom’s treatment centers.

TMZ reported last month that his motivation to get clean was sparked by reuniting with his 5-year-old son, Phoenix. However, it appears there might be a pause in their interaction.

According to court documents obtained by the media on Thursday, Margera stated that he is now completely sober. In recognition of his efforts, he has requested joint legal custody of Phoenix, whom he shares with his ex, Nikki Boyd.

He suggested overnight stays every other weekend to continue strengthening their relationship. Yet, it seems that Boyd is not entirely convinced about this arrangement. Reports suggest that she is trying to maintain as much distance as possible between Margera and their son.

In the legal documents, the Jackass star expressed bewilderment over Boyd’s alleged lack of support in his journey to sobriety, especially since she has also reportedly battled addiction in the past. He highlighted his commitment to treatment and therapy, and his completion of several courses.

However, he claims that his ex is trying to keep their son away from him. He alleges that she has been denying him phone conversations with their son and is also keeping the child away from his extended family.

Attorney suggested “allowing [Bam] to talk to their kid again,” but her attorney David Glass stating that she had “given the green light” for repairing their relationship. At that time, Margera and Phoenix were reportedly having “FaceTime” chats, moderated by one of Margera’s therapists to ensure a healthy conversation.

This was a significant step for the 43-year-old, who had previously threatened his ex, in explicit language, to continue using drugs unless she allowed him to see Phoenix. This ultimatum did not work out.

Instead, Margera decided to take a proactive approach towards his sobriety. Following this, she allowed contact.

At that time, Boyd was reportedly not involved in the phone calls, but the interaction between the father and son was “going well.” However, Boyd’s concern might have been triggered after Margera reportedly left treatment for a stint in Las Vegas with his friends.

Her worry about a potential relapse and her protective instincts towards their son are understandable. Margera has been in and out of rehab several times during their relationship and even more since their split. His claim of sobriety does not necessarily make it a reality.

Regardless of the situation, it is hoped that Margera continues his journey towards health and proves himself to both Boyd and the court to secure a relationship with Phoenix.
